Most recently, Gayle advises and defends individuals and companies in the security fraud arena. As publicly held companies continue to come under both civil and criminal scrutiny for their practices, Gayle has protected their interests. She has advised Boards of Directors and their special committees, conducted internal investigations, provided advice on corporate governance, and represented companies, their officers, their directors and their advisors in securities fraud and derivative lawsuits, as well as before the Securities and Exchange Commission and other government agencies.
Throughout her more than 25 years of experience, Gayle also has successfully handled complex multiparty litigation, including class actions, involving a wide range of industries. These industries include energy, computer systems, telecommunications, commercial agriculture, equipment manufacturing, and public accounting.
The issues have been extraordinarily varied, including commercial contract disputes, personal injury, fraud, errors and omissions, director and officer liability, racketeering (RICO), toxic tort, antitrust, trade secrets, and accounting malpractice. Her extensive experience with the energy industry alone has included oil and gas contract and pricing disputes, take or pay disputes, natural gas pipeline transportation and compliance, natural gas processing plants, regulatory compliance and environmental issues.
Gayle has significant experience in nearly every type of forum: state and federal courts, mediation, arbitration, and federal and state agencies. She is well versed in the complexities of domestic and international jurisdictional disputes. In addition, Gayle has argued appeals before the United States 5th Circuit, 9th Circuit, 10th Circuit and Federal Circuit Courts of Appeals, as well as state appellate courts, and is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States. Gayle has over twenty published state and federal cases bearing her name.
Prior to her association with the Firm, Gayle was an equity partner with Bracewell & Giuliani, LLP (formerly Bracewell & Patterson.)
